In translation, the dialectic of unison and plurality is dramatically at work. Each act of translation is an endeavor to abolish multiplicity and to bring different world pictures back into perfect congruence. This class will teach how to reinvent the shape of meaning to justify an alternate statement. If the translator’s craft is ambivalent, we will focus on practice to find the extreme tension between impulses and recreation. Special Education has a vocabulary of its own, so the class’s goal is to research terms in the fields seen in IEP assessments.
